Overview

Beanstock Media was founded in 2010 by industry veterans with backgrounds in companies such as DoubleClick, Yahoo!, Traffic Marketplace, Turn, Pointroll, Eyewonder and Right Media. Drawing on a wealth of experience in advertising, publishing, and yield optimization, they recognized that publishers could benefit from their own private ad exchanges to gain control, improve transparency, and increase ad yield.

But they also saw an opportunity to help publishers boost overall ad revenues substantially by accessing pent-up demand for high value rich media campaigns.

Very few web publishers have direct access to brand buyers. And fewer still are able to capitalize on the incremental revenue available from high impact advertising – for several reasons: bid-based buying programs don’t typically support rich media transactions, the ads themselves often require site customization and are labor intensive to execute, and brand buyers habitually take most of their high impact campaigns to a few large sites such as portals.

To address these issues, Beanstock Media creates and manages private exchanges where hundreds of media buying firms and thousands of brand advertisers compete for each ad impression. Beanstock’s privately managed exchanges also come equipped with proprietary technology that enables seamless execution of rich media ads without the need for site customization or additional ad operations support.

But our goal isn’t to simply optimize existing ad units; it is to maximize overall ad revenue for our publishing partners. Our experts dive into each publishing partner’s reach, frequency, page views, site code, page setup, latency, user attrition, discrepancies, and other data to fully understand the opportunity cost of any technical debt. We then suggest changes that reduce latency, extend session times, increase ad views and improve ad yield, all resulting in a better user experience and revenue increases of anywhere from 35 to 70%.

Why trust your ad revenue to ad networks motivated to pay as little as possible for your inventory? Or open exchanges that skim your most valuable users and send the majority of impressions back to you?

The results speak for themselves. Beanstock’s 200 publishing partners report substantial revenue gains across the board, and buyers recognize Beanstock-managed publishers as sources of the highest quality of brand-safe, rich-media enabled inventory. Sample publishing partners include Dictionary.com, myYearbook.com, SB Nation, and Sidereel. The company has offices in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York.
